Ama jumped up, trying to reach Silans height to help her. And got just high enough so she could push to. "Is this good?" She strained to say in her stretched position.

Silan let out a sigh as the board moved into place, sliding onto the shelf hinges. "Yeah. That's it. Let's get the next one up, we can get on top of this one and move it up." she barked, going for the next board. She grasped it in her jaws and strained to bring it up, her jaws full of pain.

Ama ran up to Silan and grabbed the plank with her mouth. She helped to pull it up as hard as she could. And she started to walk to the shelf to jump on. "You said we get on top of this one right?" Ama said with her mouth covered by the board.

Silan nodded, the board shaking as her head shifted. "Yeah." she mumbled, the wood making her words jumble. She pushed up, ready to leap onto the first board they'd placed on. Putting her front paws on the first shelf, she bunched up her hind legs, ready to jump. "On the count of three, ready?" she asked. It had to be done together, otherwise one of them would loose the grip they held on their side.

"Ok, im ready, you start the countdown. I think I'll mess up." Ama replied, "I'm a little clumsy."

Silan struggled a smiled, her muscles beginning to tire. "No worries, Ama. One," she readied her back legs for the push, the jump would prove difficult, but she wasn't going to give up on Ama. "Two," she took a deep breath, filling her empty lungs. "Three!" she called, releasing her tensed legs and landing roughly on the first board. A creak replied, but it would hold.

Ama jumped just as Silan did. And started to get into position to pull the plank up into place. "We have to put it into position again just like the last one right?" Ama mumbled to Silan.

Silan nodded, just barely able to manage the small notion as she began to position the piece of wood into place. "Yeah, get it up on the pieces on the sides." she mumbled, the strain finally starting to get at her. She slid her side onto the left side of the shelving spot. The strain released as she stepped down, her paws practically failing her. "That's a load off my mouth." she sighed, regaining her strength as she filled her lungs with fresh air.

Ama shook her neck. She felt almost light headed and stumbled a bit. "Whoa, I've never carried somthing so heavy before! Are there any other planks?"

Silan was still craning her neck, breathing in deeply as she answered the pup before her. "I think so. On the other side. We'll have to put those two up as well." she looked back at the old, dusty planks. Sitting there in the shadows, among the heaps of hay and debris. "Let's leave those for another day. There's only so long I can stay here, we'll get these two fixed up so you can stay in here. We can finish it tommorow." she sighed, heading over to the piles of hay.

Ama nodded her head, "Yes I understand, its hard." She huffed. "So now we put the hay on the shelves right?"

Silan nodded, grabbing a mouthful. She let it lay onto the shelf as she turned to the wolf pup. "Just put enough for you to hide under. It would probably be best if you could lay on the top one though, not a lot of canines could reach that high." she said, her mind thinking of the best solutions in the current situation.

"Yea, I will go on the top one." Ama grabbed a pile of hay and layed it down unto the shelf Silan did. "Is that enough?"

Silan turned and grabbed another mouthful, grasping it in her sore jaws. "Just a little more." she barked, putting down another jawful of hay.

Ama scooped up more hay and set it on the Shelf Silan did. Then she grabbed more hay to put unto the top shelf. "So what happens if hiding wont always work?" Ama asked in curiousity, her words a little muffled. "Is their something else I can do just in case?"

Silan nodded, "I've been thinking about that. If it comes to a matter of life or death, I want you to fight." she barked, emptying her mouth for the last time. She used her tail and swept the last of the hay back into a pile. "Tomorrow we can start with lessons. We'll practice in here so you're ready if you ever need to be." she explained, shaking her pelt. Small pieces of the tasteless plant they had put on the shelves flying off her fur and into the air. Her father had taught her to fight, though she hated to. She'd only ever been in a fight once, and that was with a dog that had been starving in a town some distance away from this one. She proved herself good in combat, but she still didn't like to fight. She sat down looked at the pup, soon to become her young charge.

As Silan looked at Ama she smiled. She kinda had a mentor like person to be with now. "Thank you for helping me with everything Silan." Ama walked up to Silan, sat down by her side and layed her head on her leg as if to hug her.

Silan felt her fur grow warm, she stood stock still, unsure of what to do. "Uh- No problem Amma." she barked, trying calmly to adjust to the fact that a wolf pup was practically hanging off her leg. "But you should get some rest now. Tomorrow I'll be back to teach you something worth while." she quickly spoke, thinking of a reason for the pup to let go.

"Ok," Ama backed away from her side and lept onto one of the highest shelves. "See you in the morning." She yapped as she layed on the soft hay and rested her head.

Silan nodded quickly, practically jumping to her paws faster than a deer could sprint from a pack of wolves. Giving her fur a brisk shaking, the dog padded rather lightly out of the old shed. The scent of the hay still lingered in her nostrils as she left, walking about the farm to find somewhere to call a den for the night. She ended up nesting beside a stall in the abandoned farm, strands of hay strewn about her paws as she laid her head on a particularly soft pile of straw.
