Fallen Trees

Jaeger padded along in the strange site. It had been once filled with towering trees, but now they lay abandoned upon the leaf and pine needle littered earth, to rot. He snarled, filthy humans had destroyed the forest and now part of it lay in ruin.

Koruani padded amongst the rotten trees, watching with blazing eyes. She began to remember her hateful grudge to those humans. ''They'll pay for what they've done.'' She whispered under her breath. Suddenly, she heard faint paw steps, not far away but close enough to see a shadow moving amongst the fallen territory.

Jaeger took in a deep breath, trying to clear his mind when..... He picked up a scent. A wolf, by the taste of it. His eyes narrowed as his head swiveled around, trying to find the secretive canine. "You can come on out now, I know you're here." He almost growled, angered by the fact he'd been watched.

Koruani was hidden behind an old trunk while she heard the voice. Another wolf was wandering about, how perfect. She moved like light amongst the other trunks until she was in front of the male wolf. Koruani then stood proudly and smiled. ''Greetings.''

Jaeger felt his neck fur bristle. "Hi." What did this wolf want? What could she possibly gain from following him around?

''So, what is a wolf like you wandering in such a foul territory?'' Koruani asked. Her fur flat on her skin, she tried not to bristle her fur.

"No concern of yours, I can assure." Jaeger felt his eyes narrow, the yellow orbs now just slits. His tail was bristled to be twice its size, his muscles tensing everywhere. What did this she-wolf want?

Koruani grinned, showing her powerful fangs. ''Well, why don't you just leave? I assure you that this is where I'll stay for some time, so no other wolf is allowed to pass here unless they want their life ripped away by my claws.'' Koruani's tone was offensive and her pelt was allowed to bristle. She unseathed her sharp claws.

"I have every right to be here," He growled back, his fangs glistening in the dim light. "And there's not a chance in this world you'll be the one to make me leave." He waited, for the she-wolf to pounce. He would be on the defensive. Perhaps she'd just back off, now that he'd made his point.

Koruani laughed. ''You?! You and who else?'' She growled away her laughter. ''Tell you what.'' Koruani began walking in circles around him. ''What's your name?''

Jaeger sneered, "I've got no reason to tell you my name." He watched her, his eyes picking up every movement. She wasn't attacking yet.

''I have all the reasons as well as you do to stay here. Now tell me your name.'' Koruani kept walking, her paws hard on the cold ground. A blast of cold air buffeted the fallen trees.

The wolf held a blood-curldling smile upon his face, "Make me."

The female wolf stopped, surprised that such intruder spoke those unforgivable words. ''You want to fight? I have no intension of killing you, but if you wish so, it will be my pleasure.''

"Oh yeah? You talk a lot for a mutt your size. I wanna see you do something." Keep antagonizing, daring her to attack. She started this. He had no idea who she was or what her purpose was, why she here. How was he suppose to trust her?

Koruani hanged for some seconds. She closed her eyes, listening to the wind blow. Her claws scratched the earth below and she smiled.

Jaeger tensed, she was going to do it. She was going to attack him, he could feel it. "Cold paws?"

Koruani stood there, frozen like ice. She laughed from the inside for she knew that this wolf was looking for blood-shed. ''What is it that your looking for in such territory, wolf?'' Koruani opened her eyes, they blazed with fire. ''You couldn't have come with no purpose.''

"I believe that my own purposes are for my own knowledge, but if you really have to know," Jaeger blinked his eyes, keeping the adrenaline going as he thought about all the previous fights he'd gone through. "I'm here to strike out my own place, away from everyone else and their constant bickering." He ended in a growl, his muscles rippling under his thick pelt. "You're not helping much."

''And I don't plan to.'' Koruani sent all of her sterngth to her paws and lunged herself at the male wolf. Her claws were unseathed and she prepared to attack him.

Jaeger simply side-stepped out of them way, throwing a paw out under her belly, doing his best to rake her underside. He snarled, annoyed and irritated. What was her gain being here? Wait, no, first of all, what'd he ever do to her?

OOC: Just feel like pointing out, on the first page, one of Jena's posts, too lazy to quote. Only felines have retractable claws. Cheetahs can't though C:

She had been wandering territories for a few days now, and had been in this one before. She felt...uneasy here, as she hadn't felt before in any territory. Then, she smelt two wolves. Hostile at that. Thinking she should leave she started backing away, but her curiosity got the better of her. she sighed, and crept through the grass, her paws making no noise. then she stiffened. The two were fighting. Thinking it'd be interesting to watch she kept creeping forward
